Love to wander through a bookstore with a hot cup of coffee. Staff is helpful. The buying club is a deal if you go regularly and can be used in the cafe as well.
I usually love this place, but tonight wasn't one. Lots of great items, but nothing had a price on it.
I've been having good luck with the staff lately finding books. The reference desk is usually where a bookstore is either make or break, and it seems they have some staff that actually cares now. It's not the best book store I've ever been too but it's a good one. And it's the only one in Alexandria. I like that they still sell books, some book stores have gotten too far away from books to try and keep up with the times. When I go to a book store I don't want to be surrounded by the latest as seen on TV pancake flipper and automatic sock self installers. I like it when they stick to books and similar things.
I was not happy with my experience today. There were four workers and they were all congregated behind the register. Never came out when I needed help. Also I was unaware of their return policy. I can understand if you don't have a receipt you can't return something, but then the worker said they would exchange...as long as you had a receipt. I wouldn't exchange a book for the same book so this made no sense to me. When I asked if we could exchange one book for another in the same series I was told no. They just weren't very helpful and honestly the store was a mess. Too much merchandise in a small area. I wish we had more options in town.
Always a beautiful and friendly environment with all the help you could need without ever feeling pushed at all!! This is a GREAT location and I LOVE the store!
