Yesterday I go in to pawn a 3 piece Nolan Ryan limited edition proof coin set. The set was in its original case and still had all of the papers that came with the set including the signed certificate of authenticity describing the set it's limited ed number and it's place in the collection and also the composition of the METALS in the coins which is (1) .999 1 ounce bronze coin, (1) .999 1 ounce fine silver coin and (1) .9999 1/4 ounce pure gold coin. The First Lady glanced and told me I can't help you these are all fake and just gold plated. I asked to speak to the guy that handle the bullion items. I go to his area and he didn't look at it either he said that it's gold clad tried to show him the certification but he blew me off and said it's a commemorative set so they're only gold plated I tried to explain there was only 1 gold coin and why he would think that a fine silver coin was gold plated. Anyway the coins are real and needless to say these people aren't the brightest bunch. I've never had a pawn shop turn down gold not even a 1 gram pair of 10k earrings much less a quarter ounce of the purest gold there is .9999. Incompetent.
They lied! Refused to let me buy everything back!
He asked them what he was signing and to read it to him. They only read a general idea of what it said. They left out the fine print!
Great people. They took the time to chat. We enjoyed ourselves.
Was told to come on in and they will help us over the phone. Drove 45 minutes to be told they couldn't do anything. Rude employees.
Staff is kinda rude. They don't give you much for selling or pawning items. The things they sell are pretty crappy.
I've been in the shop to look around quite a few times, staff is always polite and helpful. I've only ever purchased old US silver coinage. However almost a year ago I went in and saw a nice Walt DISNEY commemorative coin set, as fine silver. All of the pieces were marked .999 silver. When I got home I browsed the web for info. I found the set on eBay for $11 reproductions of the original baring a fake.999 fine silver mark. I Tested with a magnet each coin stuck to it. Next day i returned to the shop showed them how fine silve coins were sticking to a magnet. It's obvious that they're not silver at all. After waiting for 45 minutes or so they come back offered a refund or store credit. I can't believe someone that has been in the business for so freaking long didn't do the Easiest most common precious metals magnet test. Of course if something does pass a magnet test it does not mean that it's real. Magnet test saves time and money by allowing you to remove the ones that you already know are fake before proceeding to acid scratch test. Anyway questionable business practices. Sorry about the huge post next I'll tell everyone what happened yesterday at silver dollar pawn.
CROOKS! THIEVES! Stuck up! Snobby people.
CROOKS! They do not read what they make consumers sign. My husband would never have parted with a new $300 scope and his grandfather's rifle if he was read the disclaimer for $150!
