I had brought it to a large transmission chain that has decent reviews. They did a diagnostic and told me that their diagnostic showed nothing, so they'd have to drop the transmission and check it out - for $325. Said if it needed a rebuild, it would cost $2k to $2500.

Called these guys because I remembered I had a truck transmission rebuilt here previously. They took it for a drive and told me it was most likely the valve body. They could do this without pulling the transmission and it would cost about $300. This is what most forums said it was likely to be as well. They told me if it wasn't that, they'd have to pull it and rebuild it and quoted me a range that was considerably lower than the other trans shop.

Thanks again!

In summary,

Stay far away from this place as possible. I have had 2 vehicles transmissions rebuilt here and both came out with the same problem and when asked about it on a part that is to be included in rebuild I was told that was on me after paying cash for 2 vehicles of $4500.00. Bad Business practices and no service after the sale. I was a customer that paid good money I never asked for more than what I paid for BUT I DO WANT WHAT I PAY FOR!!!!!

Hands down the best transmission shop I've ever used. somebody told me that they are under new management, idk if thats true but they were fast and did not overcharge and they were able to explain to me the problem at hand.

- The previous mechanic I used (who I consider a friend) has lost my business.

- I would bring my truck back to them in a heartbeat.

- I am confident that I have a solid transmission rebuild rebuild (the one I had previously done on my Dakota held up just fine also).

- I am satisfied with the customer service I received.

- I feel like this is a trustworthy local shop.

I just got my 2008 GMC back with a rebuilt transfer case. The ower has given me a 3 year warranty on it. Their work was good, the customer service was great. I will adjust my review later if any problem arise.

Great work! Fast, and they didn't overcharge me.

- I have a 3 year warranty that I don't think I'll need to use, but I'm confident they'll handle hassle free if I need it (the paperwork says must bring it in every year for transmission service, but he told me they aren't sticklers for the timing if the mileage isn't crazy.

My 02 Tahoe was having an issue with the transmission after I had it rebuilt 3 months ago by a local do everything mechanic who I've always had work on my truck. He had rebuilt it 1 1/2 years before that. When it started having shift problems after this, I brought it back in and he told me it wasn't a problem. I took it at that. Probably should have figured out that the transmission is probably best left to a specialty shop.

I decided to bring it to these guys and I am quite happy I did. They put in the valve body and called me and told me that didn't fix it (they told me it was a certainty that it was the problem). They told me that they had observed some clutch material when they were doing the valve body, so they didn't think the valve body was going to work once they got into it, but they tried. Fortunately, they told me the $300 would be applied to the transmission rebuild. Told them to go ahead. When they finished it up, the total was at the top of the range that they gave me, which was fine since it was way less than the other trans shop. I paid extra for a 3 year warranty (comes with 1 year, but after the previous issues, this was going to be necessary for me). I will mention that the 3 year warranty from then was a bit more pricey than the other trans shop, but even with it, they came in less than the low end range of the other trans shop.
