It was Halloween night. The wife, Sister in law and I took the little one in for some spooky pancakes. There was a line. Understandable. (Other than over half of the tables were set and open, maybe short on staff?). When our name came up we where promptly seated and the server was with us right a way. Server got drinks out and took our order in just a few minutes. We ended up waiting almost an hour for our food (to start out with). Before that we could hear our server getting short with the kitchen staff about stuff being missing from table 47 (I think it was). 10 min or so after that. Server came out with our order with every thing we order, other than every thing my wife ordered. (Her order was the last one on the ticket.) The server apologized for the wait and that the computer was messing up in the back and put the order on two tickets. (?) Even though the table right after us got there food before my wife. The food was average for IHOP. Not one of our better visits to the Alexandria La. IHOP.
Went at 12:00am not bad but slow for there only being two customer. People that arrived after me got their food before I got mine. Overall, food and service were great.
The place is not crowded and appears to be overstaffed but the wait is horrendous. Supervisor is yelling at the kitchen staff like a nun at a parochial school. Obviously there is chaos in the kitchen. Over an hour after being seated our food finally arrived. The toasted bread on my wife's sandwich was oil soaked and in their rush to get our food out my hash browns weren't even browned. Very disappointed.
On Christmas eve, at 7 PM, in a not very busy restaurant, I waited an hour to get my food only to walk out empty-handed. I couldn't even get a refill on a glass of water. The waitress took the glass that still had water in it and never replaced it. All I ordered was a salad and a short stack of pancakes. I love IHOP--it is the restaurant I go to for my comfort food and I visit this particular restaurant on average about once a week. But tonight was a very grave disappointment; the second time it is happened in six months.
